I liked this conversation I had with Jakub while he was taking a bath yesterday.

Not too long ago we all decided to take a trip to the end of the island. It was one of our first family bike trips since we bought baby seats. We've found that biking in the summer is a very excellent way to see a lot of things in our area of the island.

We saw the St Anne boat locks in action, Jakub watched a man fishing and we looked at the colorful plants near the water.

The restaurants in St Anne are great and we hit one of the Fish 'n Chips places for lunch. Iced cream on the boardwalk was for desert.

On the way home we stopped at Centennial Park, when Jakub has his art class, and played at the playground for awhile.

This is a set of pictures I found kept from reviewing my home-made security system. Sometimes the system caught pictures of birds coming in for landings right in front of the camera. These images were taken a couple of summers ago, but I found them when cleaning up my computer.

Today was Father's day, the end of Father's Day weekend.  It was one of the best weekends in a long time.  Jakub made me a picture and a box at art class on Friday -- fabulous!  When I called home from work on Friday Jakub was so excited to tell me all about how he drew the sky and sun and grass.  As you can see he is very abstract.

Bogusia took me bike shopping and we dropped quite a bit of cash on a new bike for me, kid's seats, and a few other bike accessories.  Almost bought a canoe as well, but we figure in the end we'll rent until season's end and then buy a discounted boat.

Yesterday we did a lot of outdoor stuff including taking a paddle-boat down the canal by Atwater.  Small hint:  paddle boats are not very fun; go in a canoe or kayak instead unless you want a lot of excercise.

For the first time Jakub was eager to try riding his bike.  He saw me ride mine home from the store and became inspired I suppose.  We put on his helmet and attached the rope and I pulled him one block to the South.  Jakub made sure to tell me how far Esteban and Adrian's house was.  Then we turned around and went to the green space just North of our house to play.  He realized that we had forgotten toys, so we had to ride back to the house to get them.  Unfortunately, just as we pulled in to the driveway Jakub had a crash as he turned too quickly and scraped his elbow.  That was the end of riding his bike for today.

Still no pedal action but it was fun because he was excited by going today!
